Toipc: Parts of Sentence (The Subject)

A Sentence may be divided into a subject and a predicate.

But, what is the Subject?

The Subject reflects "who" or "what" we are talking about.

The Word that follows the Verb (to be) is not the  "Object" but "Complement"
The "Complement" enlarges on the subject.
1. The lesson was exciting.
2. The Bishop became famous.



WHICH WORD?
"Complement" and "Compliment"
The two words are not the same.
Complement /Kampliment/ means
1. to add value to something to improve it or make it attractive. E.g.
Esi ensured the boys did the work to complement the work done by the employees.
2. The full quantity or amount of something.
E.g. have u received the full complement of your consignments?
3. Complement (in grammar) means a word which comes after a Verb (to be) to describe the Subject of the Sentence.
"Compliment" /Kampliment/ is
1. a remark that expresmyses praise or admiration of somebody.
2. gree tings, best wishes usually to express praise and admiration.
E.g. send my compliments to the King.
