There are 3 Articles in English - "a", "an," "the"

"The" is known as Definite Article because it usually precedes a specific or previously mentioned noun.

The Following are some uses of "the"
"The is used ....
1. With a specific noun
2. When the noun it refers to represents something that is of a kind.
3. When the noun it refers to represents something in the abstract.
4. When the noun it refers represent something named earlier in the text.

For more on the Indefinite Article Refer to Lesson 004.
